Flipping Ceramics
A veteran ceramics instructor needed a home for his flipped classroom resources -- instructional videos, downloadable handouts, and a teaching toolkit for fellow educators. We built the entire hub from strategy to launch.

The Challenge
Rob Boriskin had spent years developing a flipped classroom approach to teaching ceramics -- students watch instructional videos at home and use studio time for hands-on practice instead of lectures. He had 14 instructional videos, 11 downloadable handouts, teaching toolkit documents, and collaboration videos, but no organized way to share them with students and fellow educators.
The content existed in scattered formats across YouTube, Google Drive, and email attachments. He needed a professional hub that organized everything by type, made resources easy to find, and told the story of why flipped classroom pedagogy works for ceramics education.
- Educational content scattered across multiple platforms
- No organized taxonomy for videos, handouts, and toolkit resources
- Needed to communicate the flipped classroom methodology clearly
- No copy written -- needed content strategy from scratch
Our Approach
We began by cataloging all existing content -- 14 instructional videos covering throwing, trimming, glazing, and wedging; 11 downloadable PDF handouts; 8 teaching toolkit documents; 10 in-depth stories; and 15 collaboration videos. We created a content taxonomy and information architecture that made everything discoverable.
The design needed to feel warm and crafted -- reflecting the handmade nature of ceramics. We used generous whitespace, high-quality photography of studio work, and a clean layout that put the educational content front and center.
Content Architecture
Organized 50+ resources into clear categories: instructional videos, collaboration videos, downloadable handouts, teaching toolkit, and stories.
